Our story · Since 2006

From an idea to Lowestoft’s first driving range.

Built through determination, improved over two decades and entering an exciting new chapter.
Where it began

Two golfers. One ambitious idea.

Lowestoft Driving Range began with conversations between two avid golfers who believed the town should have a dedicated practice facility of its own. Following discussions with Rookery Park Golf Club, the idea developed into a serious proposal. Colin Hillier and Bob Edwards agreed to seek planning permission before committing to the field, knowing that the project could not proceed without consent for the building and its proposed lighting. The first application encountered difficulties because of the floodlighting. Rather than abandon the idea, the plans were amended and resubmitted. Permission for the building was secured, further advice was taken from the council and an acceptable lighting design was eventually agreed.
